Presidential Election 2008

This week The Listening Post Richard Gizbert looks at the media frenzy around the US presidential election campaign and why there¹s only one dish on the news menu for American viewers. Slick graphics, almost nightly debates and a barrage of polls are pushing other stories off the agenda. What impact has that had on global stories that would normally be covered -- datelines like Baghdad, Gaza and Tehran.

2 years ago the Mainstream news channels barely reported about news overseas. What difference does the election make?

I am sad to say this but americans hardly know what is happening on the other side of their state much less the other side of the world. I live in the United States and just knowing about local news might be 50:50. It is only a small percentage actually care to watch any news what so ever.

He posted an RE vid to me a long time ago. I don't remember his YT id but we had long discussions which he cut off when I told him the owner of Fox spent millions in the Florida court system trying to get a judge to rule that the first amendment gave him the right to force his employees to distort and falsify news. The 2nd circuit eventually ruled there was no law that said he could not force his employees to do that. Fox vs Akre.

If it's related to the main stream media, he's correct.

@ 3:20 less violence=less media coverage, that tells volums. The US media does not want to let people know that the US is actually making progress. That would make Republicans look good and threaten Democratic party chances to take the White House. THATS A FACT! I'm independant so dont even bother with calling me a neocon. Just telling it like it is.

I can't believe they used video from that tony guy. He thinks everything is a liberal conspiracy.
